This free annual event is geared towards young families with children up to 9 years old. You'll find an array of exciting activities, entertainment, and good food. This year, activities will include floor hockey, karate, yoga, arts and crafts, music with Wiggleworms, and performances by the Dance Company from the North Shore School of Dance.
Today was the last day of our weather project. This week we focused on the wind and how it affects the weather around us. The children participated in a number of activities related to wind. We talked about how sometimes the wind is calm and other times it can be very strong and powerful. When the wind is powerful it can cause more dangerous storms called tornadoes and hurricanes. These winds can be very damaging to our homes and neighborhoods. It is one of the reasons we practice tornado drills within our school, to learn how to be safe when a storm like this occurs.
The children use their own breath to make wind to move a cotton ball, an electric fan to attempt to move different weighted objects and a tornado bottle to represent what a tornado might look like in the sky. This project has brought us a lot of new information about weather and the world around us. Next week, we are completely shifting gears and will begin a four week project on art. We will be holding our Art Studio Day for the children on Thursday, April 7th. If you have any art experience or knowledge to share we would love to incorporate your expertise into our project.
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!
