Curriculum Update

This week, we continued our Big Cats project by exploring Lions.  We read a book about lions and the grasslands.  We learned that lions have tan fur that helps them to blend in with their surroundings.  The children were also very interested in learning about manes- the hair around the lions head.  We discovered that only the male lion has a mane.  We also learned that male lions spend most of their day sleeping and that the female lions are the ones that search for food. Baby lions are called cubs.  They live in large groups called a pride and they all have their own territory.

For art this week we used forks, paint markers and construction paper to create lion faces.  The children drew the face with as much detail as possible and used the fork to apply paint as the mane.  It was a "roaring" good time!!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND HAPPY SPRING
