WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD BREAKFAST:  The Week of the Young Child Family Breakfast for Preschool and Kindergarten will be Thursday, April 14th from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.  Infants and Toddlers will be hosting their own breakfast on Friday, April 15th.  If you have children in both Toddlers and Preschool/Kindergarten, please plan on attending both days to eat with each child individually.  If you have any questions please speak with your child’s lead teacher or Suzie Brunner our Preschool/Kindergarten Coordinator.

WAGNER FARM:  We are excited to announce an in-school field trip on Wednesday, April 20th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wagner Farm will be coming. The children will have an exciting opportunity to learn about Wagner Farm's livestock in this hands-on program.  They will not only see, smell and touch the animals, but also discover the unique contributions of each animal in sustaining the farm. Each class will transition through three stations as they learn about the life cycles of dairy cows, sheep and chickens. The students will make valuable connections between the seasonality of farm work, the cultivation of farm animals and the specific role of each animal in supporting the farm family, contemporary consumers and American agriculture. If you have any questions about this event please speak with Suzie Brunner, our Preschool Kindergarten Coordinator.

SPANISH SCHEDULE CHANGE:  For the remainder of the year, Spanish class will be held on Tuesdays instead of Thursdays.

This week we started our new project on Letters! We began the week by singing the ABC’s song together and talking about what we use letters for. The children told us we use them to talk with each other and can find them in magazines, street signs, computer screens and of course books! We learned that letters can keep us safe by warning us of dangerous areas and even tell us if the floor is slippery. For art, we used letter stampers to spell the names of friends and family. We also spent time cutting out letters from magazines and gluing them on construction paper. Our favorite activity for the week was our letter walk. As a class we walked around the building looking for letters. We found that letters are all around us! They are on the walls, the desks, the ceiling and even on the fish tank. Our letter project is off to a great start and we will continue writing and identifying all of next week.
